Computer science empowers students to create the world of tomorrow. - Satya Nadella

INTENT

To support our delivery of the Computing curriculum, we follow the Teach Computing curriculum: an online tool to help primary schools review, develop and implement effective change to drive high-quality computing education.

Our Computing curriculum aims to provide a high-quality, broad and balanced computing education that is rooted in the latest pedagogical research. Through our curriculum, we intend for pupils to not only to be digitally competent and have a range of transferable skills at a suitable level for the future workplace, but also to be responsible online citizens.

IMPLEMENTATION

The national curriculum for computing has been developed to equip young people in England with the foundational skills, knowledge and understanding of computing they will need for the rest of their lives.

We deliver the Computing curriculum through twelve pedagogical principles which can be found here

We use a spiral curriculum, which allows children to gradually build on knowledge and learn more complex ideas:

Online Safety

In dedicated units or through weekly conversations, children learn about online safety and what to do if they encounter something which makes them feel uncomfortable as well as what personal information is and why it is important we don’t share it with someone on the internet.
